# Add values to an array

`POST /v1/edit/array/insert`

Adds one or more values at the start, at the end, or before the item at a position counted from 0. A position outside the array is refused with the valid range.

## Request body

| Name | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| items | array of any | yes | The array |
| values | array of any | yes | The values to add, in this order |
| at | one of: start, end, index | no | start, end or index (default `"end"`) |
| index | integer | no | With at=index: the position the values go to, from 0 to the length of the array |

## Example request

A request body that works, as JSON.

```json
{
  "items": [
    "a@example.com",
    "c@example.com"
  ],
  "values": [
    "b@example.com"
  ],
  "at": "index",
  "index": 1
}
```

## Response

The fields inside `data` of a successful response.

| Name | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| items | array of any | yes | The resulting array |
| count | integer | yes | Number of items |

## Example response

A real answer from the operation, as JSON. The fields in the table above are inside `data`.

```json
{
  "data": {
    "items": [
      "a@example.com",
      "b@example.com",
      "c@example.com"
    ],
    "count": 3
  },
  "errors": null,
  "meta": {
    "request_id": "a4a121f6-d07a-4bb9-9b1b-24fe74cae854",
    "timestamp": "2026-10-27T07:19:42.175158Z",
    "version": "2026-03-26"
  },
  "pagination": null
}
```

## Responses

| Status | When it happens |
| --- | --- |
| 200 | Successful Response |
| 400 | The body respects the operation schema, but the use case rejected it. Each problem is one ApiError entry |
| 413 | The request is larger than the request size limit of the API allows |
| 422 | The body does not respect the operation schema. Each problem is one ApiError entry with the code validation_error |
| 500 | Something failed inside the server and was not an input problem. The same envelope, errors may be empty |
